Word from the Herald Group

This decision was not taken lightly, nor were considerations of the safety and wellbeing of our employees, says Benno Stander, Business Manager of the Herald group.

Moments after President Cyril Ramaphosa concluded his address the first instances of false news regarding the nationwide lockdown started circulating on social media.

In times like these, reliable news is more valuable than ever and all too often, news is only worth the paper it is printed on. In accordance with the regulations stipulated by government, print media is considered a critical business requiring continuity of service.

The Herald group of publications has taken the decision to keep publishing reliable news throughout the national lockdown period. This decision was not taken lightly, nor were considerations of the safety and wellbeing of our employees.

Precautions have been put in place to drastically cut down on travel, time spent in the office and possible risk, so that we can continue to serve our readers, while complying with the lockdown regulations that were put in place.
