Learners receive new uniforms

140 uniforms were divided between ten primary schools and four secondary schools.

The Mabina Foundation in collaboration with Prince Matsorwane Sekgopo donated school uniforms to less privilege learners in Sekgopo last Thursday.

Ten learners from each of the 14 schools in Sekgopo received new uniforms including shoes as part of Mabina Foundation’s initiative to give back to the community.

The chairperson of Mabina Foundation, Rodney Mabina, who is a businessmen, said he grew up in the area and knows that it is a struggle for some families to provide school uniforms to their children.

He said the donation is aimed at motivating learners to attend and concentrate in class. He added that not having a school uniform can be a demotivating factor to learners.

He assured the community that the foundation is committed to contributing to the development initiatives in the area.

Prince Matsorwane Sekgopo said the donation is an annual event which started in 2017 with only a few learners benefiting.

He said working with the Mabina brothers, Rodney and Arthur, this year they were able to provide 140 uniforms to ten primary and four secondary schools. He encouraged learners to stay away from drugs and to study hard as the future depends on them.

Parents, teachers and community leaders expressed their gratitude.

“It’s heartwarming to know that there are good people who care about the future of our children. I believe the new uniforms will motivate them to study hard,” said Maite Ramoshaba, whose niece benefited from the donation.
