Tzaneen circuit aims for 100% pass

The Tzaneen Circuit was named the third best circuit in the province, following Chinane and Vurhonga from Vhembe East as second and first respectively.

Felix Nomvela, Tzaneen Circuit Manager says he is proud to be leading a circuit of hardworking learners and teachers.

He applauded Merensky High School for attaining 97,7% pass rate, Ben Vorster High School for achieving 95% and Lowveld Academy (Helmeg) for attaining 90,4%.

He also commended Tsaneng Combined School, located in the Westfalia area for improving from 69,6% in 2018 to 80%.

“Despite celebrating all our achievements, we are still not satisfied, because we are striving for a 100% pass rate in the circuit.

“I also want to urge those who failed to work hard, with extra support from the teachers and parents they can make it,” he concluded.

Meanwhile the MEC for Education in Limpopo, Polly Boshielo believes the province is on the right track towards achieving an 80% matric pass rate, after the 2019 class managed to achieve 73,2%.

She was speaking at the announcement event of the 2019 matric results in Polokwane recently, where she stated that she was pleased with the results.

The Class of 2019 has set a new record since 1996 by surpassing the highest recorded performance of 72.9% in 2014.

This represents an increase of 3.8% as compared to the performance of 2018’s 69,4%.

Overall the province did exceptionally well it produced the highest numbers of best performing learners nationally.

Lutendo Malaisi, from Thengwe Secondary was the country’s top achiever in Physical Science and Tiyani Mbedzani from Rivoni School for the Blind in Elim, was awarded the country’s top achiever in the special needs education category.

The department also encourages all candidates who wrote the 2019 0ctober/November exams and would like to improve their subjects that they are eligible to rewrite in May/June 2020. However these candidates will only write the subjects they wrote or registered in 2019.

All candidates who wrote the 2019 October/November examinations and would like to improve or to finish off the remaining subjects are eligible to write examinations in May/June 2020.

The due date for registration for May/June 2020 National Senior Certificate for both the 2019 full time and Repeat part time is 31 January 2020.
