Puleng Dikgale: Funeral tribute to ANCWL hardworker

The funeral procession of the late African National Congress Women's Leauge, Puleng Dikgale, was an emotional one as many speakers spoke highly of her.

Mourners gathered at what was later described as a sad day for the Phalaborwa community when the late Puleng Dikgale, who passed away two weeks ago after a short illness, was buried.
Each speaker at the service hailed the late Ward Councillor, Puleng Dikgale, who passed away on Sunday, January 5, as hard-working, always committed to her work, and to serving the community.

The Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality Mayor, Merriam Malatji, who spoke at the funeral, said that the service provider to deal with water challenges at Ward 7 in Namakgale has been appointed by the Mopani District Municipality and that “The service provider will be on site very soon.”
She further urged residents to refrain from illegal water connections as this hampered with the water supply in Ba-Phalaborwa areas. “Severe punishment will be instituted to perpetrators involved in illegal water connections,” stated the Mayor.

According to the communication unit of the Municipality, they have received notification from the Lepelle Northern Water (L-NW) that L-NW was currently experiencing a high number of illegal connections, mostly in Lulekani and Namakgale areas.
“This high number of illegal connections results in high water losses to Lepelle Northern Water and also affects water supply to both Namakgale and Lulekani areas since the respective reservoirs supplying these areas are always at low levels,” stated the Mayor.

The Ba-Phalaborwa Municipal Council Speaker, Eric Hlungwane, Chief Whip, Didodo Rapatsa, SACP DEC member, MacDonald Sibuyi, ANCYL PEC Member, Master Mashele, Fellow Councillors, Municipal Manager, Maite Moakamela and her team of directors are amongst the dignitaries who attended the service.
