An alleged dangerous criminal has been re-arrested

Two 203 rifles, one 9mm ADP pistol, five 9mm live rounds and four 303 live rounds were recovered during the arrest.

One of the six dangerous criminals who escaped from Hoedspruit Police Station last year November was arrested at his hideout in Maake recently.

He was arrested together with another suspect by members of Tzaneen Police Tracking Team and firearms were recovered.

Police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said that they received information about the suspects of a house robbery and rape that were committed around Sekororo Village, as well as the escape from the Hoedspruit Police Station.

“The information received from the public led police to a house in the area where the escapee and another suspect were apprehended,” said Mojapelo.

Mojapelo said that before the re-arrest, the escapee, aged 41, was in custody for robbery as well as escaping from custody in Mpumalanga. He was part of six dangerous awaiting trial prisoners who escaped from the Hoedspruit police cells.
