School celebrates its learners’ achievements

Poems, drum majorettes, Xibelani dancers and singers entertained the guests during the occasion.

Learners at Rhulani Primary School were celebrated recently for their active participation in academics and sports.

Handswell Phakula, Principal at the school told Letaba Herald that two learners reached Provincial competitions in athletics, while two more learners reached the District level in soccer u/12 and u/13.

Phakula further stated that academic awards for positions one to three across grades R to 7 were also on the day’s agenda.

“Rhulani is not just an ordinary public school, but a school of excellency,” Phakula exclaimed.

Some of the lower grade learners with their parents after they were handed certificates and uniform from the donors.

The atmosphere around the ceremony was not just jubilation, as it was also described to have been interesting and inspiring.

“Our sister departments, those being the nurses and social workers along with the Councillor, Induna, local creches, parents and other stakeholders attended the ceremony and this made it very inspiring to the learners and the teachers alike,” he explained.

Tintswalo Rambau donated 30 pairs of school uniforms and a former teacher, H.S. Mthembi bought uniforms for two top grade 7 learners.

The principal and his trip and functions committee organised and coordinated the event, with dedicated, hardworking teachers whose results were above 70% were awarded with framed certificates while the learners were given trophies, certificates and uniforms.

“The graduation ceremony saw 71 grade 7 learners being awarded and celebrated for their hard work. All parents, learners, invited guests, neighboring principals were catered for and the donors have adopted some learners for their daily needs in 2020,” concluded Phakula.
