Residents demand 24- hour health services

They claim that the nursing staff who are on standby at night are being paid to sleep at the clinic.

Residents of Lenyenye marched to the local clinic to demand 24 hour health services.

They say currently the clinic operate only during the day.

“Since there are always nurses on standby at the clinic at night, why are they not giving medical services instead of calling ambulances that take too long to arrive,” said residents in a memorandum of demands.

Residents also demanded that the clinic committee be disbanded as its term of office has elapsed and a new clinic steering committee comprising of members from all stakeholders be elected.

“We don’t want the steering committee that is made only by members of the ANC. We want all stakeholders in the community to be well represented,” they said.
