Giyani: Police still on the heels of hit and run suspect

Allegations that some of his body parts were found missing sparked outraged.

The Police in Hlanganani outside Giyani are still tracing the suspect involved in a hit and run and culpable homicide incident which occurred along the Blinkwater and Maphalle road on 3 August.

“At about 20:00, the Police received a report about a male person who was found lying along the road. They reacted swiftly together with Emergency Services. On arrival, they found a man with multiple injuries and he was certified dead on the scene,” Col Moatshe Ngoepe said.

According to Ngoepe the deceased was identified as Mbhazima James Makhubele (53) from Blinkwater village.

The death of  Makhubele has sparked violence in the area.

Allegations that some of his body parts were found missing sparked outraged.

“Some people were allegedly accused by some members of the community in the area of being involved in the killing for ritual purposes. Their houses were later torched,” Ngoepe stated.

Ngoepe said said that investigations can confirm that there were no parts missing on the deceased’s body.
