Eleven members of the Quad X 6299 team from Texas committed themselves to leading a robotics camp which trained local learners about the robotics field.
Almost 30 learners from six schools in the Thabina Circuit were selected to be part of the program.
From Thursday, July 4 until Monday, July 8 the visitors taught the local students everything about the robotics field ranging from hardware, software and marketing.
“After we are done with the training the trainees must be able to build their own robots, programme them and to also market them to companies,” explained Rebeccah Bates, Quad X 6299 Project Manager.
Tom Kgomo, Thabina Circuit Manager, said that local learners should use robotics to solve current issues which are facing the world and that the camp serves as proof that even kids from poverty stricken families can become scientists also.
On Thursday, July 11 the local teams showcased their final projects at the Lenyenye Science Centre.
Some of the guests who came to welcome the foreign visirors included, SEDA, Haernetsburg Rotary Club, GTM, LEDET and local principals and educators.
