The Lenyenye Regional Court last week sentenced a 23- year-old man to an effective 15 years imprisonment for raping a 17-yearold girl in Hoedspruit in February 2017.
According to the indictment, the girl was walking with her boyfriend when Edward Differ Nkuna attacked her boyfriend and assaulted him.
The boyfriend ran away leaving the victim behind. Nkuna then dragged the victim to his house and raped her before releasing her.

The shaken girl walked home and reported the matter to her parents who immediately informed the police.
A case of rape was opened and assigned to the detectives in the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offence Unit (FCS).
Through the outstanding investigative skills of Detective Sergeant Luphondo Mkansi, the accused was traced and arrested the following day.
