Father and son appear in court on multiple charges

The 18-year-old pupil who allegedly rammed into nine fellow learners outside the Mothlatlego Machaba Secondary School in Ga-Motupa, outside Tzaneen on Tuesday morning has been arrested.

According to a police report, the pupil was arrested alongside his 54-year-old father.

The pupil allegedly lost control of the Nissan bakkie he drove to school with on Tuesday morning, injuring eight fellow learners and killing one learner who was identified as Koketso Raholane (14).

A police report stated that the 18-year-old pupil will be facing charges of culpable homicide, driving an un-roadworthy motor vehicle and driving a motor vehicle without a valid drivers license.

According to the police report, his father will be facing a charge of permitting a person to drive a motor vehicle knowing that he does not have a valid drivers license.

Both suspects are set to be appear in the Bolobedu Magistrate’s Court today, 13 June.
