HOEDSPRUIT: Police make hard crime breakthroughs

Hoedspruit police arrested two males for alleged murder, for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and suspected stolen property.

According to sergeant Libhuwani Malaudzi, the alleged murder took place on March 16 on a farm in Hoedspruit where the deceased male (24) was in dead in a compound.

“According to information it is alleged that the deceased assaulted one of the accused’s younger brother,” Malaudzi said in a statement.

“The accused retaliated by going to the compound of the deceased where he was found and started to assault him. The accused then took out a knife and stabbed the victim in the neck. He died on the scene,” she explained.

The accused allegedly ran away and hid but through information that was received from community members, police was able to arrest the accused at Hluvukani village in Acornhoek.

He will appear in Hoedspruit court soon. In another unrelated incident a suspect was arrested for also bieng in possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and possession of suspected stolen properties. The police, together with the Hoedspruit Farm Watch worked on information about three suspects that alleged committed n house robbery in Athurcity village in Acornhoek. Police suspected the three drove to Hoedspruit area after the robbery.

“While the farm watch was busy patrolling they noticed a vehicle that was reported stolen. The three suspected house robbers was also thought to be responsible for steeling the vehicle,” Malaudzi said.

They immediately chased the vehicle.

The driver of the stolen got out of the vehicle and started to run. One suspect was arrested but the other two managed to escape. The vehicle was searched and the following items were found inside the stolen Ford Figo: 4 Plasma TVs, clothes, bedding, two laptops, one cellphone, wallets with bank cards, a revolver with six live rounds and a balaclava. The Acornhoek SAPS opened a case for House Robbery.
