LOCAL cyclists and joggers are fed up with the lack of maintenance on the stretch of land outside of Golden Acres on Aqua Avenue/Annecke Street.
This road ‘reserve’ land belongs to the Greater Tzaneen Municipality (GTM) and should thus be maintained by the municipality.
“The problem is not only the knee length grass – which can easily hide snakes or shards of glass – but also the fact that joggers and cyclists are forced to use the road instead of the pavement,” explained a local motorist, Kristi Helm.
She went on to say that she feels this puts them in danger.
“Sometimes they are kids, or people with their animals. It’s risky and I hope the Municipality does something about it as soon as possible,” continued Helm.
“I’ll get them to attend to it,” said Neville Ndlala, media spokesperson of the GTM.

At the time of going to press the GTM had yet to clean up the area, and had not given the LETABA HERALD a timeline as to when this will be done. The HERALD will keep you updated.
