AFB Hoedspruit hosts men’s breakfast event

It is the responsibility of men to respect and love their women.

The first ever men’s breakfast event aimed at discussingthe needs of women, with a theme of what women need within the societywas held at Air Force Base HoedspruitOfficers Mess on 08 March 2019, during the World International Women‘s day.

According to Chaplain (Cpln) (Dr) Wonke Buqa, who coordinated the entire event, Men’s Breakfast event was used as a platform to reach out to men in order to curb the relationship failures and marriage challenges.

This was prompted due to the marriage and relationship challenges experienced amongst the soldiers and civilians at large, stated the South African Air Force Chaplain.

This will not be the first and the last time to host such kind of an event as further ideas will develop through the Imbizo and lekgotlaof men as a way forward to ensure that men continue to uphold a high standard of life and treat women with care, support and dignity.

Similar event was once coordinated by Cpln (Dr) W. Buqa at Air Force Base Swartkop (Thaba Tswane) in 2015, while he was working there. Approximately 119 men attended the event in Swartkop instead of the expected number of 50.

At least 49 men attended at AFB Hoedspruit which superseded the above target of20 people. The event yielded fruitful results as most men wanted to gather again within a period of a month.

Addressingthose who were in attendance, mostlymen who were joined by women from the spousalforum of AFB Hoedspruit, Chief of the South African Air Force (CAF), Lieutenant General Fabian Zakes Msimang thanked all people who came to support the event.

Furthermore, he commended the role played by the leadership of Air Force Base Hoedspruit and in particularthe Officer Commanding of the Base, Colonel (Col) Jingles Kereeditsefor hostingsuch an important engagement within the military fraternity.

It is very disappointing to see men who are still contesting to things that do not require them.

Women sacrificed a great deal to our country.

The country has been put to its current position today because of women of the nineteen fifties who stood up and said enough is enough.

Men should learn to accept, embrace, love, and remain faithful, while at the same time acting responsibly to their partners.

He said by so doing that alone will do much in restoring and preserving the respect from women.

Women needs to be loved, nurtured, adored, respected, trusted, pampered, praised, hugged, complimented, supported, consoled, charmed and be protected all the time, stated General Msimang.

The esteemed guest speakers present on the day were, mama Africa Msimang (Chairperson of the SA Air Force Spousal Forum) who was the main functionary of the event.

Also present was the Chairperson of AFB Hoedspruit Spousal Forum Mrs Hope Kereeditse who was accompanied by members of the Base Spousal Forum including, Mrs Rosemarie Wilson, Lt Col Kawe Mazula, Capt Tsakane Rikhotso, FSgt Sebolaise Mehlape and Corporal Dikeledi Letsoalo.

Among others who were also attended the event as guest speakers were Pastor Mandla Russel Mbowana from church of the Nazarene, and Ofentse Kau who rendered a poem while complimenting the value of women within the society.

As he delivers the sermon,Reverend Mbowana shared withthe audience that the Bible teaches us that man is the head of the family.

It is the responsibility of men to respect and love their women.

Men are leaders and should therefore lead with love.

Women need to be praised and be appreciated for who they are. He urged all women to submit themselves to their husbands as Christ Jesus did to the church and men to love their women. This is a mutual relationship.

Speaker after speaker echoed the same message of love and respect which should be given to women who are in a relationship.

Capt Rikhotso made an appeal to men so they may provide the emotional needs of women. Whatever men say to their wives or partners, they must duly mean it.

Time for breakfast

Capt Rikhotso emphasized the fact that one of the ways to show partners that they are affectionate to each other is by means of holding each other’s hands, brushing each other’s hair, playing with each other, cutting the nails, telling each other how much they mean to each other, and how much love do they have untoeach other.

Mama Africa Msimang shared her story as to how she managed to her marriage life 26 years ago.

She said her journey into marriage has not been that easy.

Her advice to women is that they must remain strong, respect, adjust and adapt, be stable, flexible, and be supportive to their husbands even though things are tough.

Mothers are role model and as such,it is our duty to keep the home warm all the time despite experiencing communication problem, marriage problems, and financial, challenges, she said.

Towards the end of the event, all men stood up and commit themselves to pillars of love which is: loyalty, honesty, stability, respect and consistency in their marriage life.
