The SAPS Tzaneen Cluster under the leadership of Major General, Maggy Mathebula embarked on ‘Operation Basadi’ on Friday, January 18.
The aim of the operation was to eradicate the mushrooming crimes in the region which includes; car hijacking, murder, house and business robbery, domestic violence, rape and other related crimes.
The campaign was conducted by over 50 female police officers and six traffic officials in the Maake areas.
The roadblock was held at the R36 Road coming in the Tzaneen, Lydenburg and Sekororo area.
The operation comprised of various police units and other role players such as Detective, Tracing Team, First Responders, FCS,VIS, Detective, crime prevention,Traffic and Gambling Board.
They conducted stop and search, traced wanted suspects, searched for illegal gambling outlets and for high police visibility.
