TZANEEN: Severe thunderstorms and heavy rain expected this afternoon

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) confirmed to Letaba Herald that severe thunderstorms are expected this afternoon.

After a few days of scorching heat, Tzaneen residents can expect some welcome relief with an afternoon rainstorm.

Edward Engelbrecht, weather forecaster for SAWS confirmed to Letaba Herald that there is a 60% chance of rain this afternoon in Tzaneen and surrounding areas.

“Heavy thunderstorms can lash down between 14:00 and 15:00. It can continue right into the early evening,” he said.

Extremely hot temperatures will persist today with a maximum of 39 degrees.

Tomorrow (November 29) will be a little bit cooler with a minimum of 17 degrees and a maximum of 28.

“Tzaneen can expect an early morning light drizzle with partly cloudy conditions,” Engelbrecht continued.
