HOEDSPRUIT: Washing bikes for bucks

Megan (7) certainly has a business-minded brain and is thinking of items that she can sell at an upcoming fun fair.

Local entrepreneur, Megan Potgieter (7) told her mother that she wanted to make her own money and came up with the idea of offering a bicycle washing service to the Hoedspruit community.

Over the past weekend, Megan, a grade one learner from Mariepskop Primary took on the task and washed 11 bikes.

Megan told the HOEDSPRUIT HERALD, “I want to do it to make me busy,” and noted that she intends to open a bank account that she can deposit her hard-earned money into it. She even joked with her mother that her father will have to build a safe in her room because she will have so much cash from her new business.

Megan charged her customers R50 per bike and offered a full clean, chain lube and a tyre check. She made adverts for her bicycle wash service and handed them out at school and told the HERALD that she was ready for the hard work.

She certainly has a business-minded brain and is thinking of items that she can sell at an upcoming fun fair.

Her aspirations for the future are also bright, with Megan hoping to achieve a number of different things – she hopes to become a DJ, a singer, a dancer and a car designer.
