Police arrest stock theft thieves

The suspects are believed to be from Tzaneen.

Matlala police have made a breakthrough in the fight to curb stock theft in their policing area after the arrest of two male suspects aged between 25 and 37 for being in possesion of suspected stolen sheep.

“It is reported that a stock theft operation was conducted until the early hours of Wednesday morning, October 24, resulting in the arrest of the two suspects who were found in possession of 18 sheep suspected to be stolen. The suspects are believed to be from Tzaneen,” the police said.

According to information, three suspects were driving an Isuzu bakkie between Chloesdam and Vlakfontein village along the Matlala road.

They were stopped by the police and one suspect managed to flee.

The remaining two were arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen livestock.

“The suspects are expected to appear in Matlala periodical court soon. Meanwhile, a manhunt operation for the third suspect is underway. Police investigations continue,” Sergeant Marobo Seabela said.
