Tzaneen SAPS scoops awards at provincial event

The Tzaneen Cluster took the most awards at the SAPS Prestige Provincial Awards Ceremony which was held at Bolivia Lodge in Polokwane on Friday.

The local team brought back home a total of six awards from the event.

One of the biggest winners of the day was Sergeant Yvonne Moyana from Tzaneen Cluster Office for Best VISPOL Employee of the Year 2018.

“I consider the win a blessing, I take my job as a calling and this proves that indeed hard work pays.

“I also attribute this win to great leadership. Major General Maggie Mathebula is a great leader, because she always motivates and encourages all of us to do more for the community,” said Moyana.

Tzaneen Police Station was named Best Performing Station on level 13 under the leadership of General Mathebula.

Other award winners included Constable Nyiko Mulungwa from Maake Station, who took second runner-up in the Best Detective Employee of the Year Award (in the Child Protection Unit), Sergeant Millicent Muhlarhi from Maake Station was named Second runner-up VISPOL Employee of the year, while Kabelo Machete got second position for Best CPF Employee of the Year in the Youth Crime Prevention category and Matimba Mdaka, an Admin Clerk at Lestitele Police Station, received a special award for Best Disabled Employee of the Year.

General Mathebula applauded her team for the win and also acknowledged the partnerships she has with other stakeholders.

“On behalf of the management I would like to congratualate all the members who won and say keep on doing the great work.

“To all those that did not win anything, you can also do it if you put more effort and most importantly I would like to appreciate, the security companies, farm watch, CPF, CSF and the Greater Tzaneen Municipality for the great working relationship, because without them we would not have these awards.”

The Chairperson of Tzaneen CPF, Uwe Kroh, also congratualated the team for their hardwork and said that he was proud to be part of the cluster.

Major General invited all stakeholders for a celebration braai event which will be held at the JOC offices on Monday, October 15.
