Believe it or not, with the extreme heat we are currently experiencing in Tzaneen and the rest of South Africa, snowfall is expected over the Cape Province late this afternoon.
“Some snow is expected to fall today around late afternoon or early evening on some of the high mountain peaks. This is due to a cold front that is currently moving over the Cape province,” Edward Engelbrecht, forecaster at WeatherSA told the Letaba Herald.
Engelbrecht is truly a good news bearer.
A significant drop in temperature to about 21 degrees can be expected tomorrow in Tzaneen.
A low cloud base will also bring some mist and drizzle on the escarpment.
“It will be mostly cloudy throughout the day in Tzaneen,” Engelbrecht said.
A smog/smoke/haze observed on the satellite this morning. This is caused by inversion where colder temperatures in the lower atmosphere is overlayed by warmer air. Hope you are enjoying your morning. #BeWeatherSmart #WeatherSmartNation #Haze #Smog #smoke @ReenvalSA pic.twitter.com/wOuqUsNfMi

Weekend temperatures in Tzaneen will pick up again on Friday which will keep the thermometer mostly around 28 degrees over the weekend.
Engelbrecht said that no thunderstorm predictions are currently on the horizon for the Limpopo province for the next three days and may only come in late October.
Meanwhile, Capetonians are in for a chill as a cold front is moving over the province.
The Northern Cape will be partly cloudy in the west at first with light rain along the coast and the adjacent interior, otherwise fine and cool, but warm in places in the extreme north-east. It will be cold to very cold in the south-west.
The Western Cape will be partly cloudy in the northeast, otherwise cloudy and cold with isolated showers and light snow showers along the mountain peaks, but scattered along the coast and the adjacent interior.
