Khosa hustles with moulds and bags thousands

Local entrepreneur, Anel Khosa from Giyani is one of 12 winners in Shoprite's national Hustle competition.

He is one of 12 small business owners who received a cash injection and marketing support valued at over R70 000 as part of Shoprite’s Hustle competition.

At the tender age of 20, Khosa was inspired to start a business that incorporated his passion for nature and landscaping.

Fast forward two years later and he is the proud owner of NMK Landscape & Garden Centre – a business focusing on landscape design, the installation of artificial grass and the manufacturing of indoor and outdoor flower pots and water features from moulds he makes himself.

His business also makes trellises and garden benches, as well as the wholesale of different kinds of plants.

With no real support and limited savings, he managed to succeed in buying a truck and landing a landscaping project of R250 000.

Khosa dreams of securing premises to open his first garden centre and expanding his business by opening a chain of garden centres across South Africa. He is currently working from his backyard and would like a space where he can manufacture stepping stones and paving blocks, enabling him to employ more staff and increase their production.

“Business is always out there, you just have to go out and find it,” said Khosa after learning that he was one of the first 12 winners of the competition.
