According to the police, the cash-in-transit vehicle was travelling from Malamulele to Tzaneen when the balaclava wearing attackers travelling in a black Jeep and white BMW started firing at the van, forcing it to stop next to Platland Primary School on Jachtpad Road at about 18:00.

They blew open the cash-in-transit van before escaping with the cash.
Police said no one was injured during the incident.
