TZANEEN: Three locals arrested after drug seizure worth more than R2.6 million

Four suspects between the ages of 27 and 59 were arrested with three of them residing in Dan Village and Nkowankowa, whilst the fourth is from Midrand.

Three people local to Dan Village and Nkowankowa outside of Tzaneen have been arrested after a seizure of dagga with a street value of over R2.6 million.

In a concerted effort to eradicate the mushrooming of drugs in the province, the Tactical Intelligence led joint operation ‘Evergreen’ succeeded in cracking a possible drug syndicate which was operating around Dan village outside Tzaneen and parts of the Gauteng Province.

Law enforcement followed information on this syndicate from Dan village until they arrested the individuals at Noordwyk Midrand in the Gauteng Province. Some of their activities included the smuggling of dagga from Swaziland into South Africa.

Four suspects between the ages of 27 and 59 were arrested with three of them residing in Dan Village and Nkowankowa, whilst the fourth is from Midrand.

The following was recovered during the operation:  65 small bags of dagga, 40 big bags of dagga weighing 887.82 kg with the street value of R2.6 million and 1 white Chevrolet bakkie.

They will still appear before court soon pending further Police investigations.
