Racial differences were set aside in Tzaneen last week when two Good Samaritans came to the rescue of a mother and child walking on their way to school, when they were attacked by a bald headed black man in Agatha street on Wednesday morning.
It is speculated that the attacker could be the same individual who has been terrorising women in the Peace street and King Edward drive area.

The incident took place between 06:45 and 07:00. After witnessing the incident, the women, who were on their way to work, attacked the perpetrator and freed the woman and child. One of the ladies ran with the mother and the seven year old to the Tzaneen primary school and waited outside until the little one was put safely in school.
She then walked the mother back to her place of residence, stopping at the Tzaneen Police station to report the incident.
The Tzaneen SAPS did not open a case nor take a statement from the victim but said that they would send someone to her place of work, but nobody arrived.
On Saturday afternoon at around 13:00 the mother again went to the Tzaneen Police station to open a case and give a statement but was turned away.
The reason given was that a case of this nature has to be opened within 24 hours of the incident taking place.
The fact that the two Samaritans and the mother and child are from different race groups is living proof that South Africans can unite no matter what the circumstances are.
