Has Hoedspruit become ‘sign city’?

Just a small number of signs in the centre of town.

A few people have been referring to Hoedspruit as ‘sign city’ recently.

Noting that when you are driving through the main streets of town, you are bombarded with advertorial sign boards everywhere you look.

The HOEDSPRUIT HERALD asked a few community members whether the amount of signs around town bother them on a day-to-day basis. Here is what they had to say…

What is your opinion? Has Hoedspruit been over-run with colourful boards all over the show? Do we even look at them anymore or are they so overwhelming that we simply overlook them? Send your comments to bethc@herald.co.za

Eric Simpson: “I think maybe it is because there are now more signage companies in town? But it isn’t a problem for me.”

France Makena: “There are a lot of signs. There are a lot of advertised shops but I think we need more shops in Hoedspruit so it doesn’t bother me.”

Clare Diederichs: “There are recently more signs. My son mentioned it the other day funnily enough. We are used to the story ads seen in Maputo and he said some of the signs reminded him of that. But it doesn’t bother me”

Ethel Maluleke: “I haven’t even noticed!”

Evens Seepane: “All the signs are detracting attention from my small business.”
