A local pastor (29) and his girlfriend (24) were attacked by two men wielding an axe and a firearm near Rhobeni village in the Letsitele Policing area of the Tzaneen Cluster in the late hours of last Wednesday, June 27.

It is alleged that the young couple were inside a parked car at a local soccer field during the late evening hours when two armed men attacked them. The suspects robbed the man of two cellphones and took turns in raping the woman.

The two suspects then drove off with the woman, leaving the man behind, and later dumped her at a bridge between Rhikhotso and Xihoko village in the area, disappearing with the victim’s car.

The woman was later rescued by the Police and taken to hospital for medical treatment.

The victim’s green two-door Corsa Lite, registration number BNN 066 L, which according to police investigations took off in the direction of Nwamitwa village, is still missing.

The Police urge members of the community to stop going to unsafe places for entertainment with their partners to avoid and prevent tragedies of these nature from occurring.

Meanwhile around the Maake Policing area, a 33-year-old man was allegedly sitting with his girlfriend on the same evening near Turkey village in the Sekororo area when they were attacked by two balaclava-wearing men armed with firearms. The suspects gained access inside the vehicle and drove off with the victims.

Along the way, the girlfriend managed to escape but the perpetrators disappeared with the man. The man and his silver-grey Opel Corsa with registration number BRT 128 L are still missing.
