TZANEEN: Senior citizens honoured

The value of elderly people is often taken lightly in our communities and one organisation plans to change all of this.

Mission Restoration Foundation (MRF) hosted an appreciation event for Nkowankowa Township’s senior citizens recently at Nkowankowa Community Hall.

MRF is an organisation which hosts monthly outreach programs, where they visit orphanages, widows, street kids and the elderly.

It currently has three branches namely; Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

“We love you our grandparents. We are who we are today, because of your love and care. We don’t want to honour you when you have passed and today is your day,” explained Dear Machimana, a member of MRF.

One of the elders affectionately known as Kokwana Manyike, said that she appreciates the love shown to them by the young people.

They were spoiled with good music by Pastor Frank Ntlemo and Sam Ntsanwisi (Samstar) and Pastor Sthembile Hlongwane shared the word of God.

The day ended with a meal especially prepared for the senior citizens.
