It is alleged that members of the community went on a rampage burning Councillor Elisabeth Masedi’s house and car after accusing her of poisoning mourners at a funeral after which one person died and scores of others hospitalized. Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe estimated the damage at more than R400 000.

The Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba urged members of the community to refrain from engaging in violent actions irrespective of the type of concerns they are having but rather follow the correct channels to raise their concerns.

”Those who continue to engage in violent actions will face the full might of the law,” said Ledwaba. The suspects were due to re-appear in the Bolobedu Magistrate’s Court
