Disgrace as Acornhoek nursery school gets robbed

The daycare is supposed to offer a safe haven for 37 children all under the age of five years old but recently, their safety has been jeopardised by cold-hearted crime.

Bophelo Nursery School in Acornhoek is in desperate need of donations after it was burgled two weeks ago and all of the contents of the building taken.

Mattresses, bedding, toys, blankets, sleeping cots and chairs were all stolen by these heartless criminals. Additionally, the locks and bolts on the doors were broken beyond repair.

The daycare is supposed to offer a safe haven for 37 children all under the age of five years old but recently, their safety has been jeopardised by cold-hearted crime.

The young learners are left with no blankets, mattresses or toys.

‘Over The Fence Outreach’, a Christian Ministry run by husband and wife, Debbie and Karl Behnke, has had Bophelo Nursery School under their wings for three years now.

The aim of the outreach is to help toddlers, school children and teenagers with their life skills and teach them the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Each month they assist the children with food, water, educational toys, stationery and as many comfortable much needed items such as bedding or mattresses for the babies.

The ministry’s name, Over The Fence Outreach, comes from fact that we can either sit on the fence and watch or climb over and help.

“We need to be the difference we want to see in this country and the example starts with us,” says Debbie.

Over The Fence Ministry currently feeds over 180 families in the Sasekane Village and Sigagule Village.

Each month they make appointments and go into the Primary Schools and High Schools in the local villages and speak to the children about sex, drugs and alcohol, and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the children.

Over the Fence Outreach supports two Nursery Schools, one being Bophelo and the second is Luvuko Nursary school in Sigagule village.

Bophelo is in urgent need of better security or stronger security devices. There are bars on the windows, but the robbers broke through the doors. Over the Fence Outreach is now in a situation where they are desperately trying to restore the daycare for the underprivileged children that is accommodates.

They are trying to make the children feel safe once again.
