TZANEEN: Donate and help a girl child stay at school

Tzaneen Teach a Girl Foundation, a community project that aims at addressing social issues and empowers young girls, pleads to the community to donate sanitary pads for girls.

“Over the past two years we have been providing girls from villages around Tzaneen with free sanitary pads and now we also provide counselling and mentoring services with the partnership of local psychology graduates as volunteers.

“Many of the young girls we work with come from broken or even abusive homes and our foundation serves as a glimmer of hope to end the cycle,” explained Makoma Maponya, Founder of Tzaneen Teach a Girl Foundation.

Maponya and her team for the past two Saturdays were at Lifestyle Shopping Centre and Tzaneen Mall respectively, where they had set a stall to inform the community about the foundation and to give them a chance to donate in the initiative.

On April 14, the foundation will host a hike which is called HIKE FOR A GIRL CHILD, which will take place at Debengeni Waterfall from 08:00 to 13:00.

The hike is R250 per person to enter the trail, have lunch and donate to the cause.

All the money which will be generated in the hike will go towards the buying of more pads for the girls.

For more information on the hike and to donate on the foundation, contact Makoma Maponya on 079 898 1902 or via email at ttgfoundation@gmail.com.
