TZANEEN: Burglary business syndicate cracked

A burglary business syndicate, who has been terrorising residents in the Ritavi and Letsitele Policing areas, was cracked .

“During this operation five suspects (aged between 25 and 40) were arrested and a fifth suspect was shot and wounded while trying to evade arrest. The wounded suspect is an ex-police officer and he is still recuperating in hospital under police guard. He has been linked to three other business robberies,” said Ngoepe.

During the arrest computer equipment, school shoes, tools, cellphones and a VW Polo were confiscated.

“These stolen items are believed to be from a robbery which occurred at Tiakeno Secondary School at Joppie village on 11 February 2018, where IT equipment and an undisclosed amount of money from a safe was stolen,” explained Ngoepe.

All suspects will appear before the Nkowankowa Magistrates Court soon on charge of possession of suspected stolen property.

The Saps Provincial Commissioner Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba has commended the Tzaneen Cluster on a job well done and further welcomed this milestone achievements in the fight against these crime categories which are still problematic in Limpopo.

Police investigation in both incident still continue, concluded Ngoepe.
