Plasie coaches hone their skills

It is all-systems-go for Merensky High School’s rugby, hockey and netball coaches.

2018 may seem in the distant future, but the Plasie coaches want to be ready.

On Wednesday, 18 October, USN hosted a sports clinic at Hoërskool Eldoraigne in Centurion. 23 Plasies joined over 400 coaches from various schools to hone their skills.

Well-known, Michelle Joubert (Olympic and international referee), Kim Hubach (former v/captain of SA womens’ hockey) and Inky Zondi (Head coach, Northern Blues and TUKS 1 and assistant coach, SA U/21), shared their hockey knowledge and practical skills.

On the netball courts, Dorette Badenhorst (head coach of the NWU Pukke team and former Protea coach), assisted by Nadia Uys Pienaar (Protea player), provided coaches with valuable training techniques.

A star-studded team presented the rugby clinic. It was great to rub shoulders with Swys de Bruin (Lions Super Rugby head coach), Sean Erasmus (Paarl Boys High 1st team coach), Pote Human (Blue Bulls and TUKS Varsity Cup head coach) and Mark Steele (conditioning coach of the Jake White Springbok team and head of the Sharks Currie Cup and SupeRugby conditioning team).

Plasie coaches are chomping at the bit to implement dynamic strategies and game plans in 2018.
