GTM receives a unqualified audit and greenest muni award

The Greater Tzaneen Municipality (GTM) received an award for a unqualified audit with findings for the year 2015/2016

The award was given by the Chartered Institute of Government Finance, Audit and Risk Officers in Cape Town recently.

The GTM was also granted the Most Improved Admnistration Award because it moved from a qualified to unqualified audit.

At the same time the GTM received an award for the greenest municipality in the Mopani District, plus a R30 000 cheque.

“As the GTM leadership we are pleased with the awards, an unqualified report means that we are moving forward and that we are starting to take account of our activities.

We are also pleased with the greenest municipality in the district award and we are vying to be the greenest in the province and even nationaly, Mangena explained.

GTM Mayor, Maripe Mangena presented the two awards at the Council Chamber on Thursday.

Maripe also honoured 18 municipal employees for long service, they received certificates and R2000 cheque.

The employees worked for the municipality for 21 years and 30 years.

After the council meeting the mayor and all councillors had their lunch at the food market behind the old checkers building.

“The reason we are having our lunch here is to support small businesses,” added Mayor Maripe.
