TZANEEN: Queen’s boerewors is the best of the best

A Malamulele woman's dream came true when her boerewors was introduced to South Africans last week.

Queen Mathebula (32) from Jilongo Village outside Malamulele was named 2017 Shoprite Checkers Championship Boerewors winner in the Western Cape recently.

She won a brand new Toyota Hilux 2.8 GD-6 Double Cab Raised Body Raider and also prizes from Coca cola, Simba, All Gold and Shoprite and Checkers vouchers.

Mathebula is a Butchery Manager at Shoprite Crossing Malamulele and has a Diploma in Management Assistance.

“I did not believe that I could win the competition, because I have been trying for years and failed.

My life has changed, the car will make it easy for me to get to work on time and to drop my kids at school,” said Mathebula.

This year Limpopo Province dominated because in the top three, Meat Market Manager at Tzaneen Shoprite, Moses Mathebula was a runner-up in the competition.

CHAMPION:Moses Mathebula (29) from Lenyenye outside Tzaneen is a runner-up in the 2017 Shoprite Checkers Championship Boerewors Final Competition.

The father of three said that he knew that he was capable of doing well in the competition after his former manager used to do well in the very same competition using Mathebula’s recipe.

Mathebula lives in Lenyenye Township outside Tzaneen and says he still has hope of becoming the boerewors champion and he will still participate in future competitions.

“I’m very proud of Moses for reaching the top three and looking at the fact that this is the third year taking part in the competition,” Tshepo Molebatsi, Moses Mathebula’s friend.

Mathebula’s Champion Boerewors is now available at all Shoprite and Checkers stores nationwide.
