UPDATE: Highly wanted suspect in Hoedspruit found

Police in Hoedspruit received a tip-off from the community that lead to the arrest of 44 year old Collins Ditshego Moagi, a highly wanted suspect.

“He briefly appeared before the Hoedspruit Magistrate Court and was remanded in custody with no bail until September 27 for a formal bail application and for further police investigations,” according to a statement from LT Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.

Moagi was a parolee and wanted for three counts of attempted murder on August 6 at the The Oaks Taxi rank near Hoedspruit CBD.

He was convicted and effectively sentenced to five years in prison for attempted murder back in 2005 but was later released on parole.

Moagi is also linked to a case of unlawful possession of a firearm which occurred in 2009.

“The suspect resides in Balloon Village in Sekororo outside Tzaneen,” said LT Colonel Ngoepe.

Police investigations are still continuing.
