PHALABORWA: Day care center closed!

It is alleged that the preschool owner assaulted a three year old boy who is a learner at the Daycare center.

A 53 year-old woman, and founder of Tjiff & Tjaff Daycare Center appeared at Phalaborwa Magistrate court on September 7.

Eliza Janse van Rensburg is facing a charge of assault with intend to cause grievous bodily harm.

It is alleged that the preschool owner assaulted a three year old boy who is a learner at the Daycare center.

The toddler was assaulted with an unknown object and sustained serious injuries on his bums.
The mother was informed about this act and upon her arrival at the preschool, she found her son crying.
When the boy saw her mother entering the preschool, he requested to go home with her.
During her observation she noticed bruises on his buttocks and around his body.
She then reported the matter to Phalaborwa SAPS and the boy was taken to Maphuta Malatji Hospital for medical attention.
Van Rensburg appeared in court on September 13 and was granted R7 000 bail.
‘An order to close the school was given,’ Mongwe said.
According to constable Elvis Mongwe from the Phalaborwa SAPS, the school is not registered with the Department of Social Development as required by law.
The case is postponed to November 21.
