The day was filled with activities to encourage and motivate all the employees to participate and to earn points for their respective company.
The focus of the day was that there would be no differentiation between management and labour on the sports field. The competition would be fair and that everyone would have lots of fun. Team spirit was the highlight of the day. Each company chose their own colour for their T-shirts, which added to the competitive atmosphere.
The day started off with a group stretch and warm-up session, followed by a 5km fun run/walk. Participants competed in other activities for the day such as sack race, head balancing, three legged race, rolling a tyre, skipping, plank race, egg spoon race, push-ups, tug-of war Throughout the day, employees were encouraged to visit the testing tents which was kindly sponsored by ChoiCe Trust.
By having themselves tested for HIV/Aids, diabetes and blood pressure each employee earned extra points for their respective company. The day was supported by various sponsors who generously contributed both financially and in kind spirit. Du Roi management thanked Oasis Water Tzaneen, ABSA Bank, First National Bank, ChoiCe Trust, Lufafa Hatchery and Houers for making the event possible.
Some participants received medals and trophies for their outstanding performances. “This day would not be possible without the commitment to increase the awareness of the physical wellbeing and health of each and every employee. Thank you all for making 2017 Sports Wellness Day a huge success,” said management.
