UPDATE: ‘Rape Pastor’ case postponed for the third time

The rape case of Prophet Confidence Monyela who is accused of raping 4 minors at his church has been postponed for the third time on Thursday Afternoon at the Lenyenye Magistrate Court.

Monyela will re-appear again on September 16 for further bail hearing of his six charges which are five for rape and one for sexual assault.

Outside the court there were two camps, one supporting the prophet with some of the congregants worshipping and praying, and on the other side people supporting the victims, singing songs which called for the pastor to rot in jail.

He was supported by his wife who wore a t-shirt which said ‘proud wife’ and by her side were the church followers who stayed by her side from morning until the end of the day.

“I want justice to take its course and the truth will prevail,” Monyela told Letaba Herald.
