Hard working women celebrated

In honour of the women who embarked on the 1956 march to the Union Buildings in Tshwane, one local company spoiled its female employees at Politsi Primary School in Modjadjiskloof on Women's Day.

Merensky Northern Timbers hosted its second Annual Women’s Day Celebration event for the empowerment of its employees.

The day began with a netball game which it was a battle between the companies’ learnership students and employees.

The students taught their big sisters a lesson on how to pass the ball forward with the learners winning 19-6 against the employees.

The occasion was honoured by The Department of Health, Legal Aid South Africa and Family South Africa (FAMSA) to impart their knowledge to the ladies.

The Department of Health provided a mobile clinic which offered different kind of services to females, Lorraine Ntuli, a Lawyer from Legal Aid SA gave law advice meanwhile Nandi Mthombeni, a Social Worker from FAMSA encouraged the women to ask for proffessional help when they come across challenges.

“Don’t look down on yourself as a woman even if other people don’t see your worth, lift your head up high,”said Pastor Jeffrey Ndlovu.

The women were also given a chance to ask questions and a time to dance where they took to the dance floor, dancing the Xibelana dance (Xitsonga traditional dance).

The different guests which took part in the Merensky Northern Timbers Annual Women’s Day Event at Polisti Primary School.

The day ended with a large meal which was specially prepared for the women.

“This is a wonderful day where our women get to unwind and also get a chance to learn from other women, so that they become women of influence as well,” said Ruby Sambo.
