Greater Letaba Municipality Mayoress and women politicians took an initiative to visit Mohumi Secondary School at Sekgopo recently.
The school recently reported the highest pregnancy rate in the Greater Letaba municipal area.
The Mayoress Matlou, Speaker Dorah Makhananisa with female councillors accompanied by Kgosigadi Sekgopo visited the school to speak to the learners and advise them about the importance of abstaining from sex and concentrate on school work.
The Department of Health and the SAPS were roped in to assist in counselling the girls and motivating them. The learners were given sanitary pads, facecloths, roll-on and a bar soap to help in good hygiene and most importantly assist those learners who cannot afford.
The day’s highlight was when the Mayoress bought cakes to share with the learners as it was her birthday.
