The Plasie showmen and women competed against the best of the best from Mpumalanga and first time Youth Show participants, Gauteng.
For the first three days of the Letaba Show, the Youth Show was held both in the main arena on the rugby field and also behind the scenes, in the animal stalls where a large amount of the judging took place.
Over the course of the show, 27 Plasies were responsible for taking care of and grooming 24 cattle and three goats.
When time came to present their livestock, adrenaline was coursing through their veins as they brought their pride and joy into the ring in front of the judges.
In the cattle division, the junior Plasie showwomen took top honours with Megan Strydom obtaining a first place and Andrea van Jaarsveld a deserved second.
Justin Breytenbach and Luandi Visagie also managed to end with fourth and fifth places respectively.
In the senior division, Nicky Smith took home a hard-fought second place, while Johan Oberholzer finished in third and Iszabella le Roux and Timothy Venter claimed fourth and fifth respectively to contribute to the team’s successes.
The judges also took notice of one of Agri-Merensky’s Pin2Zyl studs, awarding second places for “3 Best Heifers”, “Group of 4 Cattle” and a third place for “Best Duo”.
Agri-Merensky’s pride bull, Zeus, now also carries the title of Senior Reserve Champion Bull.
