Phosa delivers OR Tambo lecture at Bodupe

Former ANC Treasurer General Dr. Matthews Phosa, accepted the nomination from the ANC Gigaba Branch, to contest for the presidency at the organization’s elective conference in December.

This happened as he delivered the OR Tambo Memorial Lecture in Bodupe village, at the United Fire Church recently.

The hall was packed with community members draped in ANC regalia, chanting slogans from the liberation struggle as Dr. Phosa prepared to deliver his lecture, as part of his campaign to become president at this year’s ANC elective conference.

Local pastors and traditional authorities graced the event, giving their blessings to Dr. Phosa.

The lecture detailed the history and character of OR Tambo.

Phosa then narrated his own personal experiences with the late anti-apartheid activist, who is also a revered political figure in the country.

He often switched to the local dialects of Khelobedu and Xitsonga during his oratory, attempting to win the hearts of the assembled community members.

Dr. Phosa adamantly condemned the leadership of President Zuma and his relationship with the Guptas, and the campaign of Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, adding that Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa is no solution either.

He touched on issues regarding service delivery and the water shortage crisis affecting the area.

Simon Sepatake, secretary of the ANC Gigaba branch, made the declaration of the branch to nominate Phosa as the preferred Presidential candidate for the ruling party.

Dr. Matthews Phosa proceeded to accept this nomination.
