Top achievers receive laptops

Top three best grade 12 learners in 2016 and seven educators received lap tops from the Executive Mayor of Mopani District Municipality, Nkakareng Rakgoale.

The first lap top went to the top learner in the district based on overall raw marks, Mikateko Mabuza of St. George in Nkowankowa Circuit who obtained 1702 marks.

The second laptop was received by Xihlovo Mabasa of Risinga in Manombe Circuit with 1691 marks while Michelle Stevens of Merensky in Tzaneen Circuit received the third laptop with 1671 raw marks.

Educators who received laptops for producing outstanding results in various subjects are: K Chikavanga of St. George for producing 100% pass rate in Mathematics, Ada Venter of Merensky for 100% in Physical Science, SS Rikhotso and EG Rivala of Hivuyeriwile for jointly achieving 98.3% in Geography,Magriet vander Merwe of Merensky for 96.6 % in Business Studies, Marina Schmidt of Frans du Toit for 100% pass rate in Life Science, Wendy Dryer and Sunet van Gass of Merensky foy joint 100% pas rate and Moreblessing Chikumba of Nkwangulatilo for 100% in Agricultural Science.

Addressing the audience during the handing over ceremony, the Executive Mayor of Mopani District Municipality, Nkakareng Rakgoale said the gadgets will not only serve as a motivation to other learners and teachers, but will also assist schools which these teachers are based at to further improve on their results.

“It is our collective effort to make sure that results at our schools continue to improve on a annual basis. We make a clarion call to the private sector to also play a role in providing the desperately needed resources by investing in the future of our children,” said Rakgoale.

District Senior Manager of the Department of Education, Dr Lydia Mafenya thanked the Executive Mayor for providing the laptops to learners and educators.”These laptops will assist in improving the quality of education in our district,” she said.

She challenged school learners this to do better than the previous years.
