Andie Condogiannis, chairperson of the SPCA would like inform everyone that she was in a meeting with the Mayor and Municipal Manager.
‘It was a very positive outcome to which they did agree that the SPCA cannot close and that they do need to assist. We will be meeting again on Monday. Please may I ask that the public does not contact them any further for now. We thank you so much for all the support and the donations that we have received! Every little bit makes a huge difference! Please come to the SPCA and volunteer and meet our lovely animals! Many many thanks once again.’
Ford Phalaborwa also came to the aid of the SPCA.
They posted the following on Facebook: ‘Today marks an utterly devastating day for Phalaborwa, as front paper news stated “SPCA to shut down.” We as Phalaborwa Ford are heart broken about this news. These animals did not choose this, these animals are our companions. Tonight when you go to sleep in your warm bed, after a warm shower and a nice meal, please think of our animals, cold, hungry and sick, please look in to your beloved dog or cats eyes tonight and see that there are so many more of those eyes that need to feel safe and happy. Phalaborwa Ford cant let these souls go to waste, that’s why we pledge to donate R2 000 every month, we would like to challenge every business in and outside Phalaborwa to do the same. Any amount will work. We also challenge every citizen to donate any amount to help us keep the doors open, our Phalaborwa community is strong and we won’t go down without a fight! Please guys, help us out. These workers have families, houses and bills to pay. They need us, like we need them in nightly hours to come out and save yet another animal.
