Hoedspruit: #SAAF Gym welcomes new recruits

Welcome new recruits.

At least 164 new recruits reported for basic military training at the South African Air Force Gymnasium (SAAF Gym) Hoedspruit Limpopo Province on May 26

Among those who came were recruits in the pilot mustering, protection, communication, musicians and many more.

According to the Officer Commanding South African Air Force Gymnasium (OC SAAF Gym), Colonel Riaan Van Wyk, the recruits forms part of the basic military training group two (BMT 02 of 2017).

As he deliver his welcoming speech at the Unit lecture hall on 05 June 2017,Colonel Van Wyk urged the recruits to exercise unity and team work among each other, trust each other, have integrity and remain loyal to the Organisation.

He said those are the basic fundamentals that will help them to adapt to the blue culture in order for them to take the organisation forward.

He said the core business of the South African Air Force Gymnasium is to transform civilians into airman for future utilization in the South African Air Force.

Apart from that, the Unit is mandated or charged with the responsibility to provide training to protection courses namely, VIP, Instructors, Advanced Ground Protection, Advanced Protection Training 1, Weapon Training, shooting range courses and many more.

Courses are offered even to foreign students, he said.

Among other things, the recruits were told that the organisation requires them to remain committed and should shift their focus on the task at hand in order to complete the mission successfully.

If you want to achieve the best in life and become who you want to be, you must think positive, and behave well, concluded Colonel.

Furthermore,Col Van Wyk told the recruits that ill disciplined members will not be tolerated in the South African Air Force.

Should you experience any challenges while on course, my doors are open but you must follow the channel of command to reach me, he said.
