HOEDSPRUIT: Wheelchair bound woman raped by three men, tuck shop robbed

A 74 year old wheelchair bound woman was raped by three men in Buffelshoek.

“It is alleged that the woman was asleep in the early hours of Sunday morning, March 26, when she heard noises, all that she could do was to open her eyes. She could not stand up due to the fact that she is wheelchair bound and  could not investigate the noises,” Captain Mpho Nonyane, Acornhoek police spokesperson told the Hoedspruit Herald.

The victim only identified one suspect who she calls Luwi, no arrests have been made to date.

Meanwhile in Technical village four armed suspects robbed Marikana Tuck shop on Thursday March 22.

“The suspects entered the shop, ordering the 30 year old man they found there to lie on the ground, and fortunately no shots were fired”, stated Nonyane.

The suspects took Cigarettes, Powerade’s, cellphones and an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene.

“When the victim screamed for help, the community members chased them and managed to apprehend the suspects”, she said.

“The police were called and upon arrival they noticed that the suspects were already assaulted by the community and two firearms were recovered”, Nonyane further stated.

The Acornhoek police urges the community not to take the law into their own hands, but to call the police as soon as they apprehend any suspect.
