UPDATE: Shooter NOT a farmer!

"The police are being blatantly racist and intentionally stir up racial tensions!”

This is one of numerous accusations leveled against Provincial SAPS officials after a press release was issued last night that a local “farmer” shot a farm worker near Letsitele after the “farmer” thought it was a monkey.

The Police also issued a statement warning “farmers” not to shoot at people willy nilly, implying that this was just another racist act by a local farmer.

LETSITELE: Another farm worker shot mistaken for monkey

The facts are:

* The shooter is not a farmer but a missionary

* The missionary was shooting with a small pellet gun in the general direction of the monkeys when the farm worker suddenly appeared and was accidentally struck by one of the pellets

The missionary is known for his excellent race relations and dedicates his life to the upliftment of local communities.

Everybody that knows him agrees that he will not harm a fly. In fact, several local black leaders spoke out in the missionary’s defense describing the incident as a very unfortunate accident.

The suspect will appear in Ritavi magistrate court today, Friday March 10 on a charge of attempted murder, according to the police.
