Maake; Mabushe awards excellence

Mabushe Secondary School recently held its excellence awards and recognition ceremony at the Napscon Secondary School at Tickeyline Village recently

The awards are a result of the new campaign which involves all schools from the Bakgaga ba Maake community, where they are all competing with each other in terms of performance.

The occassion was graced by the mayor of Greater Tzaneen Municipality (GTM), Maripe Mangena, Manager of Maake Shopping Complex, Orry Mbedzi along with other dignitaries.

Best performing learners from the Maake area were Bronny Sekgoka and Johanna Letsoalo came from Mabushe Secondary School.

“I will like to thank Commune P, my teachers and my family you all helped me to be where I’am to day,” said Letsoalo.

Sekgoka is now studying a B.Com in Accounting at the University of Western Cape and Letsoalo is doing her Law degree at the University of Limpopo.

The best learners took home a cheque for R5000 each which was donated by Thapelo Molapo and a tablet from GTM.

The Greater Tzaneen Economic Development Agency and the Greater Tzaneen FM partnered with the event organisers.

Molapo was the main speaker at the occasion where he encouraged the learners to dream big and to never let their backgrounds deter them from achieving big.

“We are all here because poverty must fall, I hate poverty so much and this is why I will keep on working hard just to show it that it does not have power over me,” said Molapo, Molapo Industries CEO.

Two teachers and two learners have been selected to attend the World Skills Competition in Durban at the International Conference Centre which will be held from February 14 to 16.

The selected people will be travelling from the Phalaborwa Airport and will join O.R Tambo in Johannesburg to King Shaka Airport in Durban, all this is donated by Mr Molapo who was born and bred in Maake Village himself.

Other stakeholders who took part in the event include Commune P which is led by Timothy Motlousti and Matome Malatji, Advocate Mike Ramoshaba and many academics from the Maake area.
