Two more lions mutilated at lodge

'The suspects appear to have been interrupted during the poaching attempt as they only partially managed to remove the skin.'

The police are looking for suspects who killed a white lion and attempted to kill the other two at Ingogo Safaris game lodge in Alldays policing precinct.

The lion was discovered yesterday, January 31 with its head and paws removed.

The suspects appear to have been interrupted during the poaching attempt as they only partially  managed to remove the skin.

They apparently threw poisoned chicken meat into the enclosure.

‘All three lions that were in the cage ate the meat. The other two lions were  only incapacitated due to the effect of the poison but the white one unfortunately died. The suspects then cut off the heads and paws and attempted to remove the skin,’ the police said.

A veterinarian was called to the scene to treat the surviving animals, that had not ingested enough of the poison to die.

The suspects are still at large and police investigations are continuing.
