Top grade 12 learner baffles officials with his 100% in Science Exam

A Grade 12 pupil, Ntsako Osborne Chauke, from Giyani High school has shocked the Department of Education officials by getting full marks in the Physical Science matric exam.

According to MEC of Education, Ishmael Kgetjepe, when Chauke received full marks in his physical science paper, officials were shocked and suspected that this 18 year old has benefited from an Exam paper leak.

“Chauke’s Exam paper was subjected to a re-mark and an expert was called to ensure that the grade 12 has not cheated. The outcome was unanimous, Chauke had legitimately passed the exam with flying colours,” said Kgetjepe to Herald.

Chauke indicated that he is still amazed by his results. “I never expected it, I’m still amazed,” he said. “Pupils think that Science is very difficult subject, and it is not . It is about practice and practice,” said Chauke.

However he did not believe that his achievements has redeemed his school from being at the heart of the matric scandal where maths paper two was leaked.

“A dark cloud would always hang over the school,” he said. Chauke has planned to study Chemical engineering at University of Witwatersrand or University of Cape Town.

Meanwhile , Kgetjepe said that not all results of schools implicated in the leak would be released yet.

He expressed disappointment that the department officials who leaked the papers were tarnishing the image of the department.

“The results for learners in Giyani High will be withheld as investigations are ongoing,” said Kgetjepe.

“We have blocked the release of results of the two independent schools, namely New Era in Vhembe District and High Quality in Mopani District,” he said.

ANC private college owner, Tinyiko Elphaus Khosa, from New Era college and Madzahisi college has been arrested and charged for his involvement in the leak. He will appear in court again on January 30.
